Getting clucky!

I am the new mum to four sweet little girls. They are very cute, but noisy and messy. I hope they will grow up to become useful members of society. In fact, they have been bred for this very purpose.
Before you accuse me of social engineering, let me assure you, these girls are not human. They are poultry. The four chicks were born in an incubator on Monday 15th October (on my niece's 3rd birthday, incidentally), and were adopted by our family on Saturday 20th.
Their names? Well, the last two chooks we had, who died within a week, I called Jane and Lizzie, after the Bennet sisters in "Pride and Prejudice". In keeping with the Jane Austen theme, but also in homage to my growing Bollywood obsession, I named these ones Jaya, Lalita, Maya and Lakhi, after the family of girls in "Bride and Prejudice".
I found it particularly amusing to note after I had chosen their names that their namesakes in B&P were from the Bakshi family. In a family who gives its pets pun names (Wallie, as in Where's... she disappeared for two hours when first brought home; and Shadow, because he's alway under your feet), it is fitting for these chooks to have onomatopoeiac names...
Bak, bak, bak...bakeeeek!
