Hadippa! The Queen of Bollywood has Arrived!
March 10th 2010 13:43
I'm excited! Rani Mukherjee, Bollywood star and one of my favourite actresses, is in Australia. Your text goes here
The Indian Film Festival started tonight in Melbourne, and is due to begin in Sydney on Friday night at Cinema Paris, in the Entertainment Quarter, Fox Studios. Rani's the main attraction, and is involved in Q&A sessions for the screening of her fun, colourful and recent film, "Dil Bole Hadippa", in which she co-stars with Shahid Kapoor, as a girl who must don a turban and beard in order to be acknowledged for her skills as a cricketer.

Also screening is "Black", with Amitabh "Big B" Bachchan, for which Rani won critical acclaim as a deaf, blind and mute girl, whose life is illuminated by education. I've seen both, and loved her in both, but I've been lured to the fun film, after a heavy few weeks by my Dad's bedside. I need colour, song, and escapism. Plus I'm taking my now 10 year old daughter, who loves Rani too. It'll be a night of fun, frivolity, and hopefully a chance to see Rani, in Sari-torial splendour, on the red carpet.
Check out the festival, which features a Rani Retrospective with hits such as "Paheli" and "Saathiya", as well as the now highest grossing Bollywood Film of all time, "Three Idiots" with Aamir Khan. There are also some Bengali, Tamil and Malayalam language films. Let's not forget that Indian Cinema is bigger than Bollywood, and is not exclusively Hindi.
