Margaret and David's Verdict on "The Square".

July 30th 2008 21:29
The jury's in. The film opens today, and Margaret, true to form, has rated her films based on the lunar cycle (all but one film were given 3 stars). David was far more encouraging and eloquent in his assessment of the film. You can read the transcript of the review here:

or download the whole show. "Wanted", with lovely people to watch on screen like James McEvoy (Atonement, Becoming Jane, Wimbledon, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) and Angelina Jolie, as well as Morgan Freeman, is also relelased tomorrow, but rated more poorly than "The Square". Go the Edgertons!!! Plot beats eyecandy anyday! Whilst the shorts for this film show some amazing stunt driving, we cannot forget the hero of the hour:

Here you'll witness the trashing of a large amount of Holden Kingswoods, Ford Falcons, and a Cortina or two. Brilliant work.
More recently, Nash appears in this brilliant ad on Aussie TV's.

Poor Joel. He has complained that he was a dud character in a Star Wars film whilst Nash got to play with a lightsabre as Obe Wan/Ewen McGregor's stunt double. Now his bro is getting more onscreen glory, as a cool guy who makes girls, and their icecreams, melt with a handbrake turn and a wink of the eye. The closest thing to the dangers of drag racing in Joel's career has been slipping on the catwalk in his (bless his) cotton jocks in "Kinky Boots":

However his gun-toting, arsenist psychopath in "The Square", plus his obvious talent for story-telling, are sure to see him move behind the camera more as our big and small screens head to "Nashville".

But back to "At the Movies"...here's the link to David's interview with Nash and Joel. It gives great insight into the "dog plot" (my favourite part of the story), whilst showing the mighty Woronora Bridge in all its glory.

Make sure you add your reviews by way of comments to this blog after you see the movie.
And remember to look out for me behind Julian Morrow, in the Christmas Carols scene.
Enjoy.
