Apparently you can start a petition about anything! In fact, there's a website dedicated to it.
I stumbled along this site yesterday after receiving an email from a friend supporting a most offensive campaign that is running in Sydney's west at the moment. Australian readers will be familiar with this story, as it hit the news this week due to a fake letterbox flyer created by the husbands of the retiring and incumbent Liberal candidates in Lindsay.

My Apologetics
Protest online to an audience that does not care and won't do anything. It is like protesting in garbage tin.
Anyway I got a laugh out of the concept.
Freaks love this sort of self defeating non-sense.
